If we develop the habit of fast reading, we can save our valuable time.  Continuous reading of books within very less time will help you improve knowledge and change your life and lifestyle. Observe Time

To practice fast reading you may observe the time limit. Keep observing time periods to read a certain amount of text. After practicing some episodes, examine whether the time period is decreasing or not to read the same amount of text.  Frequent examination and observance of time help to decrease the time spent for reading texts.  This is the best technique to read faster and understand better.

Avoid Sub-Vocalization

We can reduce the time to read without sob vocalization.  We can read the text faster when we do not utter the sounds out. We can observe your lips to mimic when we avoid sob vocalization of words.  Reading without utter the words out can save our time and read the text faster.

After a slight bit of practice, maybe a few hundred words, you’ll start to notice the change between speaking the word mechanically and simply allowing it to enter your mind. And once that’s done, you’ve cleared the biggest obstacle between yourself and speed reading.

Concentrate on Control

When going through the text, you will find that some pages or sections of the book may not have useful information and some pages may have useful information. We may spend some more time to read the useful pages. Speed reading is not the main criteria in speed reading. You have to read faster and understand better.

Keeping your eyes fixed at one place helps with focusing on a single word or phrase that you might want to read. Moving your eyes with your head helps in making a relaxed movement as you go from line to line or page to page. Moving your eyes freely is the core of skim through from one side of the line to the other.

Skip unnecessary words and phrases

While reading a text, we may notice some unnecessary, unimportant and repeated words in the text. We may ignore such words and phrases so that our reading speed will be increased. You do not miss the core meaning of the text of paragraph by avoiding such unnecessary words.

Read in calm and serene places

Reading in your home where there is a lot of noise disturbance restricts the fast reading. Although you feel that you are concentrating on the book that is not true. Frequent disturbance and distractions will make you disconnect frequently and it takes some time to reconnect with the idea. Better to read on your television and cell-phone off. Create yourself calm and serene atmosphere. Such conditions will help you read faster and understand better.

 Proper Ventilation Needed

Studying in low light causes nausea and headache. You cannot enjoy reading at all in poorly ventilated conditions. You cannot concentrate on the book you read.  Try to keep good lighting in your room or try to read where there is good ventilation.

Good attitude

It is always better to read books offline. Reading E-Books may cause some inconvenience while studying for long hours.  It is better to have the good posture of the body while reading. It helps concentrate on the book what you read and understand better. The good posture of the body helps better oxygen intake. Better oxygen supply to the brain helps the brain work with more power.

Skimming and Scanning

Skimming and scanning are two reading methods that use fast eye movement and keywords to move rapidly through the given text for different purposes. Skimming is reading fast in order to understand what the core theme of the text is. Scanning is reading fast to find some specific and pinpointed facts from the text.
